Native
(Dir: Daniel Fitzsimmons; 2016; UK)"A mix of intelligent fringe theatre and pulp science-fiction… it’s ambitious, unusual and thought-provoking."
"Elegant and weird."
Logline: Native centres on Cane, an astronaut travelling across the universe at the speed of light to the source of a distant, seductive musical transmission with his co-pilot, Eva. As they travel further from home, their telepathic links to mission control become compromised and they are forced to confront Cane’s unsettling obsession with the transmission and what the civilization that sent it may be trying to communicate.
Production Notes: In collaboration with Dagenham council, this award winning production was also the spear head for Jennifer’s work developing young talent, especially those who might not have obvious opportunities in production.
Partnering with a local college in Essex, each department on the film hosted at least two interns throughout the production, many of whom Jennifer continues to collaborate with today.
